Abstract

Abstract— After the bushfires in Victoria on 16 February 1983, the remains of twenty‐two unidentified people were brought to the Melbourne Coroner's Court for identification.This paper presents the methods adopted by the dental team of the Disaster Victim Identification Task Force.The dental records provided evidence of identity of 14 victims and this highlights the value of dental records in the identification of victims in mass disasters.
