Abstract

Following concerns about decreasing numbers of young dentists pursuing a career in academia, significant efforts have been made to provide an integrated clinical and academic training pathway. This article describes how academic training has been streamlined to fit with specialist training, and highlights some of the potential benefits and barriers to academic training.
