Abstract

To the Editor: After reading an editorial entitled Dental Caries and the Pediatrician by Dr. W. C. Black in the August issue of theAmerican Journal Diseases of Children, I was compelled in utter disbelief to reread it again and again before concluding that the article did indeed exist and its context was not my misinterpretation of its intended message. The message was a presumptious insult to the dental profession and especially to those who have labored through the years to investigate thoroughly every conceivable aspect of fluoridation. Even more discouraging was the fact that this nonscientific publication of selected ignorances, mistakes, and misinterpretations was editorialized by an official publication of the American Medical Association which fully supported fluoridation and the dental profession's efforts, and, so far as I know, that official body has yet to withdraw their Resolution on Water Fluoridation ( Journal of the American Medical Association 147:1698 [Dec
