Abstract

The static and dynamic linear response of alkali-metal thready crystals (whiskers) on the external uniform electric field are investigated in the framework of the time-dependent local-density approximation (TDLDA) and the jellium model. The size dependences of the static polarizability and photoabsorption cross-section are discussed. The red-shift of the surface-plasmon resonance in relation to the classical value has been obtained.
