Abstract
The use of density gradients constructed with mixtures of H 2 O and D 2 O for sedimentation studies of mouse liver mitochondria is described. A major advantage of the technique is the avoidance of a solute gradient and the possibility of membrane damage. Distribution patterns of mouse liver mitochondria enzymes confirm the evidence for biochemical heterogeneity observed with sucrose gradients.
