Abstract

Excess molar volume and viscosities of binary mixtures of di-n-butylether + n-alkanes (C9-C12) have been studied under atmospheric pressure at 298.15 K, 308.15 K and 318.15 K. Excess molar volume (VmE), kinematic viscosity (ν) and deviation in dynamic viscosity (Δη) were derived using the experimentally measured data at all temperature. McAllister equation was used to predict the kinematic viscosity. The VmE values for the binary mixtures were interpreted using Prigogine-Flory-Patterson theory (PFP) at 298.15 K and compared with experimental VmE values qualitatively as well as quantitatively. Dynamic viscosity was analyzed with Bloomfield-Dewan model and Singh model and the predicted values were comparable with experimental value. The derived thermodynamic properties were also correlated well with Redlich-Kister polynomial.
