Abstract

This study reports the density and viscosity measurement of ternary salts consisting of Ca(NO3)2, NaNO3 and KNO3. The addition of calcium nitrate has been reported to reduce the melting point of the salt mixture from 220 °C to around 120 °C, depending on the composition. The experiment is preceded by the process calibration of the viscosity and density measuring devices. The viscometer and the mass balance were calibrated against sunflower oil whose density and viscosity were known.
