Abstract

Measurements of densities, viscosities, speeds of sound, and relative permittivities for five binary mixtures of methyl acrylate + 1-alcohols (methanol, 1-propanol, 1-butanol, 1-pentanol, and 1-hexanol) at T = (308.15 and 318.15) K are reported. The experimentally measured viscosities and speeds of sound in binary mixtures have been compared with those calculated using various semiempirical approaches. The isentropic compressibilities, molar electrical susceptibilities, and molar polarizations are calculated from the measured density, speed of sound, relative permittivity, and refractive index data. The excess volumes, excess isentropic compressibilities, excess molar electrical susceptibilities, and deviations in molar polarizations are calculated. These functions are fitted to a Redlich−Kister type equation. The variation of the Kirkwood correlation parameter has also been examined for all the binary mixtures over the whole composition range. Qualitative analysis of the various functions has been perfor...
