Abstract

Densities, viscosities, and refractive indices were determined for two ionic liquid (IL) mixtures formed by 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium alanine acid salt ([bmim][Ala]) with methanol or benzylalcohol, respectively, over the mole fraction range from (0.1 to 0.9) and at temperatures from (298.15 to 313.15) K at intervals of 5 K and atmospheric pressure. Excess molar volumes, viscosity deviations, and refractive index deviations have been calculated from the experimental data and fitted to a Redlich–Kister polynomial function. The results have been interpreted in terms of ion–dipole interactions and structural factors of the IL and alcohol molecular liquids.
