Abstract

The densities of the top and the bottom phases in some aqueous cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB)/sodium dodecyl sulfonate (AS) two‐phase systems have been measured at 318.15 K. Some homogeneous solutions near the phase boundaries of aqueous two‐phase regions were measured also. The salt effects on densities of aqueous two‐phase systems (ATPSs) were studied. Two kinds of inorganic salt, KCl and NaBr, were taken into consideration. The results indicate that ATPSs formed by CTAB/AS/H2O mixtures cannot be treated as three‐component systems.
