Abstract
The sintering behaviour of (U 0.45Pu 0.55)C pellets has been studied up to 1700 °C using a dilatometer in Ar–8%H 2 atmosphere. The mechanism for the initial stage of sintering was determined using rate controlled sintering technique and was found to be volume diffusion. The activation energy for the initial stages of sintering was found to be 360 kJ/mol for Ar–8%H 2 atmosphere.
