Abstract

The aim of this is to extend the work of Robbins and Francis in two ways. First, it explores denominational differences among the young women and second the number of value domains is expanded from eight to fifteen. The chapter then demonstrates that the young women of Northern Ireland are only worlds apart with regard to the issue of sexual morality. The work that John Greer began in 1968 charting the beliefs and values of young people in Northern Ireland has led to a valuable research resource across four decades. Not only is it important to continue this research tradition and return to survey the young people in Northern Ireland in 2018, but it is also important for researchers to explore the longitudinal change that has occurred across the decades among the young people who have spent the formative teenage years in Northern Ireland.
