Abstract

Dengue is a viral infectious disease that has become a global public health concern. It is transmitted through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which is the primary vector in Brazil and the Americas. This study aims to describe the epidemiological characteristics of dengue in the State of Paraná from July 2022 to July 2023, which is the seasonal period for the Epidemiological Report of the Health Department (SESA) of the State of Paraná. This is a bibliographic review that provides a detailed analysis and interpretation of dengue and the data collected by SESA, PR. The results show a high number of confirmed cases during the seasonal period, with the most critical period being in April 2022. A total of 108 deaths were recorded, with the cities of Londrina and Foz do Iguaçu having the highest number of cases. Control and management of urban arbovirus vectors and home care continues to be the main prevention methods for these diseases, including dengue.
