Abstract

The concept of work flexibility for nursing has exploded over the last 3 years from the disruption of the pandemic exhibited by the travel nursing boom. Health systems compete to offer the latest and greatest flexible work offerings from internal travel programs, virtual nursing, and robotic support personnel. These innovative programs are needed, but are they hitting the mark for what the frontline nurse desires? A 2-part analysis was conducted to answer this question: a survey of frontline nurses and 12 qualitative interviews with health care leaders to identify work flexibility themes for the nursing workforce.
