Abstract

This paper presents the results that can be achieved by using Doppler phase (change in range) measurements to smooth pseudorange measurements. This real-time smoothing procedure reduces the effects of signal multipath and measurement noise associated with pseudorange measurements. Results of a shipboard test are presented. For this high signal reflectivity environment, the combined measurement smoothing procedure improved the test positioning accuracy by about 20 percent.
