Abstract

Using a modification of the rapid membrane filtration technique and various opiate tracers, we have developed in vivo labeling techniques that differentiate three, and possibly four, opiate receptor sub-types in intact rats. [ 3H]Etorphine appears to label a subset of receptors (15–20 pmol/g brain) labeled by [ 3H]diprenorphine (25–30 pmol/g brain), and [ 3H]naloxone labeled an additional binding site population that is not labeled by [ 3H]diprenorphine.
