Abstract

We propose and demonstrate a high-rate all-optical sampling scheme for real-time capture of ultrafast data signals, beyond the bandwidths achievable by electronics. This scheme uniquely combines photonic time-stretch technique to slow down the ultrafast data signals with four-wave mixing to realize all-optical sampling. Real-time recording of 40Gb/spseudo-random bit stream (PRBS) are demonstrated with a stretch factor of 40 and pump rate of 40Gb/s in experiment.
