Abstract

The experiment here presented, has been described in more detail in other papers1,2 to which can be referred for a more complete understanding. The idea behind it is to combine Transient Collisional Excitation (TCE) X-Ray Lasers (XRLs) schemes, which exhibit high gain coefficients and short pulse duration 3,4,5,6,7, together with plasma production through fast electric capillary discharge. The latter has proved 8,9 to be extremely efficient in producing lasing at short wavelengths in a Quasi-Steady-State (QSS) regime, i.e., for our purposes, in producing plasmas with a suitable abundance of lasant ions.
