Abstract

The article explores the concept of demographic well-being in the context of the study of 27 ethnonational regions of the Russian Federation in the period from 2018 to 2022. The paper proposes a methodology developed by the authors that combines the analysis of qualitative and quantitative indicators with cartographic visualization of intermediate and final results. This approach allows for a comprehensive analysis of demographic processes over a five-year period together with spatial data analytics. As a result, a summary indicator of demographic well-being is presented, which allows us to distinguish demographically prosperous, demographically disadvantaged and demographically intermediate regions. The key trends and features of demographic development in ethnonational regions at the present stage are considered. More than 55 cartographic works have been developed– series of maps for the period under review for 11 demographic indicators. The final typology is visualized on the map of the Russian Federation.
