Abstract

Abstract Planners need demographic data for many purposes. The data that planners use traditionally have been available in published reports and, since the 1960s, in computer-readable form. In the last few years, several companies have also produced demographic data for microcomputers. This article reviews the offerings of several vendors who sell demographic data for use with microcomputers, points toward future directions for accessing demographic information, and discusses some problems associated with using that type of data.
