Abstract

In the 21st century, most of the countries going to decarbonize power generation to develop a sustainable environment. Consequently, the share of generation from renewable sources has been increased. Electric spring can efficiently be implemented in both commercial and residential buildings to stabilize the voltage fluctuations fed by an irregular renewable energy source. It can be installed in noncritical loads such as HVAC, electric water heater and thermal energy storage to provide instantaneous constant voltage support to critical load to follow power generation profile. Electric spring can operate in inductive as well as capacitive mode to significantly minimize the demand management side issues in the distributed renewable energy powered grid.
