Abstract
Nanocomposite Pr10Fe85B5 ribbons, mainly composedof Pr2Fe14B and α-Fe, were prepared by melt spinning andsubsequent annealing. Although a good single magnetic hard phase behaviourwas observed in the demagnetization curve at room temperature, an obviousshoulder was found at low temperatures. A simple model, in which a softmagnetic moment was pinned at grain boundaries by the magnetic hard phase, was used to calculate the demagnetization curve of the magnetic softphase. The calculated results are in close agreement with experimentalobservations. The coercivity mechanism of the ribbons is discussed withrespect to intergrain exchange coupling.
