Abstract

This chapter contains data of the field study conducted at Balasore district in Orissa on delivery of health care facilities and the impact it has on the health status of the largely poor population of the region. The study shows that the quality of public service is extremely low. The low quality of public facilities has had an adverse influence on the people’s health. This section of the study includes brief profile of the headquarters hospital and primary health centre, budget, facilities, patient’s charts, attitudes of patient’s assessment and some cases of the study. The sample frame consists of two hospitals and a few selected villages of Balasore district where Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes population is more in number. This indicates that the sample reflects the most deprived section of the society.
