Abstract

This essay describes the experience of an American professor who taught a graduate Marketing course in France. In addition to describing the experience, unexpected and/or problematic pedagogic issues encountered are identified and discussed. Based upon this experience and extant literature, ten pedagogic rules are proposed as a guide to future exchanges. Adherence to these rules should ameliorate some of the potentially problematic aspects of delivering graduate business education abroad. Special emphasis is placed on four areas, academic and cultural preparation, expectations, conduct, and relationships.
