Abstract

For delineation of the interface between fresh and brackish/saline aquifers, 25 resistivity soundings, using Schlumberger configuration, were made in Neill Island of Andaman-Nicobar from India. A fence diagram was prepared using the results obtained from the soundings interpretation together lithology of nearby well cross-section, and measurements made near out cropping materials, groundwater levels and electrical conductivity. This diagram displays various litho-units down to conductive stratum saturated with brackish/saline water and also clearly depicted the occurrence of fresh water aquifer. The depth to interface between fresh and brackish/saline water aquifers varies 1.9 to 9.3 meters below ground level in the Neill Island.
