Abstract

The reduction of the dynamic response of an offshore structure subjected to irregular wave loads is of extreme significance in the aspects of serviceability, fatigue life and safety of the structure. This paper considers vibration control problem for offshore platform over communication networks. First, the offshore structure is simplified into a single degree of freedom (SDOF) system. Then, by using the advantageous effect of time delay on system performances, the delayed positive feedback control law is proposed. Numerical example shows that the presented control law is effective.
