Abstract

A 78-year-old male was seen in the surgical outpatient department with a 6-month history of a gradually enlarging lower abdominal mass. He was otherwise asymptomatic. His past medical history consisted of osteoporosis, Graves’ disease and bilateral hydrocoeles. He had previously undergone open appendicectomy, and an uncomplicated bilateral laparoscopic totally extraperitoneal (TEP) inguinal hernia repair 5 years earlier at another institution. He was a nonsmoker and non-diabetic.
