Abstract

Delayed hospital discharge and unplanned hospital readmission after elective outpatient surgical procedures are unexpected outcomes in need of further investigation. These outcomes are viewed as markers for the quality of care delivered to patients. The current study aims to define patient and procedure-specific risk factors associated with these unanticipated occurrences.
