Abstract

Over 60% of arteriovenous fistulas (AVF) require interventions to assist maturation, which leads to prolonged time till it becomes usable for hemodialysis (HD). Current guidelines recommend early postoperative AVF examination to detect and address immaturity in order to decrease maturation time. The goal of this study was to evaluate how the timing of postoperative follow-up to access AVF maturity affects patients' outcomes.
