Abstract

Left brow eschar after 8 days (inset). Initial treatment was a tetanus shot and doxycycline for 1 week. Four weeks after the incident, the patient developed redness, discomfort, and blurred vision in his left eye presenting with central corneal swelling and an endothelial immune ring, without evidence of spider hair(s). Tobramycin/dexamethasone drops were used 3 times per day and tapered over 2 months with improvement after 1 week and complete resolution thereafter. We hypothesize that the (spider) antigen was introduced into the pericentral stroma via a fine spider hair (Magnified version of Figure is available online at www.aaojournal.org).
