Abstract

A discrete-time single server queue with FIFO discipline and general independent service times is studied. The authors present a relationship between the distribution of the delay of an arbitrary customer and the joint distribution of the buffer occupancy during an arbitrary (non-empty) slot, and the remaining service time for the customer in service at the beginning of such a slot.
