Abstract

This paper presents a new non-destructive techniques method based on modal flexibility curvature matrix to detect the delamination in composite structures. The natural frequencies and the mode shapes of the composite beams are obtained using the experimental and finite element modal analysis. It has been found that the calculated modal flexibility curvature matrix [Formula: see text] can precisely identify the location and size of the delaminations in composite beam. Simultaneously, a new identification theory of delaminated composite plate is discussed, based on flexibility curvature matrix. However, Finite element analysis shows that flexibility curvature matrix, Fc can accurately identify the location and size of either single or multiple delaminations in composite plate.
