Abstract

In this work, pristine Ti3C2Tx (MXene), as an electrocatalyst, demonstrated potential for use in electrochemical sensing applications, in which the delamination process was found to be a key factor in the electrochemical property. A pair of carbendazim redox peaks with a very low overpotential was recorded at the Ti3C2Tx modified electrode. The computational study suggested that the surface fluorine termination, which resulted from the HF etching process, could effectively trigger the electrocatalytic redox. Therefore, pristine Ti3C2Tx can be considered as an excellent electrode modifier for further electrochemical sensor design.
