Abstract

Hot trichloroacetic acid (TCA) extraction of aortic homogenates causes significant degradation of tissue collagen to low molecular weight polypeptides. The common practice of dialyzing the hot TCA extract before assaying hydroxyproline content may result in a significant loss of tissue collagen and thus affect interpretation of experimental data.
