Abstract

Pollution of water with highly toxic durable organic substances leads to irreversible environmental changes. Physicochemical and biological methods of water treatment are being developed for controlling such pollution. Oxidation of aromatic and aliphatic organic substances in water by pulsed high-voltage discharges was studied. A decrease in the chemical oxygen demand was noted. The efficiency of the removal of organic substances from the solutions being treated was evaluated.
