Abstract

Decolorization and total phenol removal of olive mill waste water during the growth of C. versicolor were investigated. Olive mill waste water decolorization and phenol removal occurred during the primary phase of growth. C. versicolor removed 80% phenol and 50% color without any additional inorganic and organic sources. No positive effect of inroganic and organic sources was determined. This fungus can also be used to reduce chemical oxygen demand (COD) (53%) and perhops become a source of single cell protein for supplementation of animal feeds.
