Abstract
Degradation of the herbicide EPTC ( S -ethyl dipropylthiocarbamate) by a soil isolate Rhodococcus TEI occurred involving cleavage at the thioester linkage. This resulted in the formation of dipropylamine which was further metabolized by the TE1 cells. No evidence was obtained for the formation of depropyl EPTC as reported for another soil isolate Rhodococcus JEI.
