Abstract

Even after the widespread popularity of outdoor sports among various stakeholders the growth is slow and still facing several challenges. Many challenges impact the development of outdoor sports and lead to less acceptance. Therefore, this study aims to discover and examine the important challenges faced by outdoor sports by scrutinizing the existing literature, taking the expert’s opinions, and defining new challenges. After examining the literature and expert opinion, 35 challenges that are primarily in the context of the Indian market have been extracted, then reduced to 17 after careful examination and the associated strength. To understand and establish the interrelationships among the filtered 17 challenges Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) approach has been used. The results can be used to draw inferences to improve outdoor sport and involvement, at the same time contributing towards economic growth.
