Abstract

A problem of the lateral field distribution stability in junction lasers with a wide active region is considered in terms of the degenerate sixwave mixing. It is shown that a periodic modulation of the field distribution arises due to the optical nonlinearity. Threshold of the lateral instability depends essentially on the coefficient of amplitude‐phase coupling.
