Degenerate electron exchange of radical ions in liquid solution studied by pulse NMR

Abstract

Simple 1H-NMR pulse sequences on the μs to ms time scale are presented to study the kinetics of the reversible electron exchange of radical anions and cations after their pulsed optical formation in solution. Measurements on the system anthracene and N,N-dimethyl- p-toluidine yield rate constants for the electron transfer and for the kinetics of irreversible radical ion decay processes.
