Abstract

We show that there is a kind of quantum group symmetry sl q (2) in the usual Landau problem and that it governs the degeneracy of Landau levels. Furthermore, under periodic boundary conditions, the degree of degeneracy of the Landau levels is finite and equals the dimension of the irreducible cyclic representation of the quantum group sl q (2).
