Abstract

We give the complete formulae for calculating the station displacements caused by the earth tide and the earth pole tide. For cm order of accuracy, the luni-solar tide raising potential should be calculated to the third order and the rotational centrifugal potential, to the second order. Results of our calculation of baseline correction are 1) if the radial component of the station displacement vector is positive (negative), then the baseline correction is greatest when the baseline is in the opposite (same) direction as the displacement vector. 2) When the radial component of the station displacement vector is larger than the horizontal component, the correction increases with increasing baseline length. 3) Long baselines are more sensitive for the determination of the Love number h, and short baselines, the Love number l. Our Shanghai-Ulumuqi baseline is favourable for determining l.
