Abstract

The wind-induced deformation of windmill supports wind is analyzed. A monolithic hollow cylinder support is replaced and designed to endure wind velocity of 60m/s at rest and 20m/s in blade rotation. A windmill with fixed pitch blade angles and a permanent magnetic generator are controlled to meet both allowable bending moment and electric brake current. To operate the windmill efficiently for power generation, local wind characteristics must precisely determined, giving the critical cutoff parameter and magnitude of wind bursts at a certain average wind velocity.
