Abstract

Towards the top of the Main Central Sheet in southern Tibet (China) leucogranites intrude metamorphic rocks related to rocks of the Main Central Thrust in the Himalayas. Our study shows that the leucogranites suffered a northward shear deformation. The significance of this event is discussed in terms of gravity-driven décollement of the 10,000 m thick Tethyan sedimentary pile over its crystalline basement.
