Abstract

In degassed alkaline ices, the O - signal became less saturated at 4K. For aerated samples, a striking asymmetry was seen at 4K in the difference spectrum obtained by subtracting the O - line from the mixed spectrum of O - and e - sol. The asymmetry was ascribed to deformation of the O - line caused by cross relaxation. A revised saturation treatment with inclusion of cross-relaxation terms is presented and successfully accounts for the deformation of the O - line.
