Abstract

Abstract A system of movable interacting discs in cramped conditions is regarded as a model geophysical medium. The evolution of the simulated system is described by the solution of a system of dynamic equations. Exposed to stationary action the system displays complicated behavior characterized by both a chaotic nature and the formation of structures. The character of the time course of energy dissipation is subject to qualitative changes with changeable deformation velocity.
