Abstract

Deformation behavior of the Ti50Zr20Nb12Cu5Be13 bulk metallic glass composite in the supercooled liquid region have been investigated by uniaxial compressive as well as tensile tests. The results indicated that all stress–strain curves show work-hardening and work-softening phenomenon. The high temperature deformation behavior is sensitive to strain rate and temperature. Rheological behavior of Ti50Zr20Nb12Cu5Be13 bulk metallic glass composite was analyzed by activation volume quantitatively, which implied that the Ti50Zr20Nb12Cu5Be13 has better rheological behavior than that of conventional Ti alloy, but not as good as Ti-based bulk metallic glass. In addition, dendrite morphology of the Ti50Zr20Nb12Cu5Be13 almost does not change after deformation, and tensile fracture is full of dimples.
