Abstract
A simple theory is given in this paper for the behaviour of clamped circular work-hardening plates struck transversely by flat-ended projectiles which travel at low velocities. By closely following the previous studies, force-displacement relationships are obtained and used to predict the deformation and perforation of the plates. It is shown that the theoretical predictions agree well with the experimental results on fully clamped steel plates when strain rate effects are taken into account.
