Abstract
This article presents formal text descriptions of the problem-oriented languages XML and RDF, which are the basic languages of the Semantic Web. The availability of such descriptions guarantees the implementability of the XML and RDF languages using an interpreter of the metalanguage of normal forms of knowledge (NFK). It is shown that the expressiveness of the NFK metalanguage in describing the syntaxes of this pair of languages is quite comparable with the expressiveness of EBNF.
