Abstract

No consistent terminology or boundary delineation has been adopted for the 3 Tertiary sedimentary and structural basins in southwestern Wyoming. The name Green River basin is applied to the downwarp W. of the Rock Springs uplift; it has a significantly different history of erosion and sedimentation than the Great Divide and Washakie basins. The structural basin NE. of the Rock Springs uplift and N. of the Wamsutter arch is called the Great Divide basin, whereas the structural basin SE. of the Rock Springs uplift and S. of the Wamsutter arch is called the Washakie basin.
